They call it the Niagara of Pennsylvania, which undersells it a little. Bushkill Falls isn’t one waterfall — it’s eight, spread across 2.5 miles of trail through an old-growth hemlock gorge on the Pocono Plateau. The main falls drop 100 feet into a pool that turns jade-green in the morning light. The Bridal Veil and Pennell Falls, further along the loop, reward the guest who keeps walking.
Four trail routes range from a 15-minute stroll to the main falls to a full two-hour loop taking in all eight cascades and two gorge lookouts. The harder routes earn their views — and in late November, when the upper falls freeze in stages, they offer a different kind of spectacle entirely.
Weekday mornings in late May and October are the ideal window: full with snowmelt or autumn rain, lit by low-angle light, shared with very few people.
